In All Starts In The Mind
Title: Think and Grow Rich
Author: Napoleon Hill
Genre: Self-Help, Psychology
Pages: 218
I found an very old version of this book in my father's bookshelf. The cover doesn't look that interesting, but on the book it says bestseller. I also heard it's quite famous, so I gave this book a shot.
I love this book! Although the title seems like a finance book and will be talking about money, but it's actually more of a self-help book that will help you achieve any of your dreams and desires.
If you guys know the famous book "The Secret", I believe that this book should be the original Secret and that they copied the ideas from this book and made it simpler. Because, in this book they discussed the power of the mind and law of attraction in more details. If you love The Secret, you should really really read this book.
Quotes From The Book
“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.” - Napoleon Hill
“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” - Napoleon Hill
“A QUITTER NEVER WINS-AND-A WINNER NEVER QUITS.” - Napoleon Hill

There is no success without a successor
Title: Mentoring 101
Author: John C. Maxwell
Genre: Self-Help, Leadership
Pages: 96
This book again was borrowed from my friend who also borrowed me Robert Kiyosaki's book. Ask your friends who read books, I'm sure they have some good books you can borrow. That is the way to save money on books.
From this book I found out that, we not only need to raise ourselves up as leaders, but after we gained leadership skills and experiences, we should share them to our surrounding and raise people up too. Because true success should be celebrated together with your loved ones in success too. Below are nice quotes I got from the book.
Quotes on Mentoring & Success
“We exist temporarily through what we take, but we live forever through what we give.” – Douglas M. Lawson
“Raising up others is the greatest joy in the world. You see, once people learn to fly, they’re capable of going just about anywhere. And sometimes when they’re flying high, they help you along too.” – John C. Maxwell
“One of the great discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t do.” – Henry Ford
“Ignore what a man desires and you ignore the very source of his power.” – Walter Lippmann
Commitment is another name for success.
See everyone you mentor as a “10.”

One Family Under God
Title: As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen
Author: Reverend Sun Myung Moon
Genre: Autobiography
Pages: 343
I think this is my third or fourth time reading this book. It is really a great book, every time I read it I am touched to tears. He is my idol, mentor and leader. This book is a worldwide best-seller in many many countries.
Who Is Sun Myung Moon
He is Korean born in North Korea in 1920 and just passed away recently in 2012. He was a farmer, scientist, naturalist, freedom fighter, peace-maker, religious leader, philosopher, patriot, beggar, laborer, businessman, prisoner, boxer, tailor, public speaker, fisherman, engineer, teacher, martial artist, environmentalist and also a soccer player.
He was many things, but mainly the people who knew him called him the「King of Peace」. Throughout his life, since he was young till he passed away at the age of 92, he only dreamed of one thing: how to bring about a world of peace where all races, religions and ideology can come together in freedom, peace, unity and happiness.
From Humble Beginnings
When he was a kid he loved the nature and people. He would run about around his hometown chasing animals and listening to nature's beautiful sound. He learned from his family tradition to give food to people, especially beggars and they receive blessings in return in the future. Later on, he had to be a beggar due to the Korean War and many people help him in return. He slept with beggars, shared meals with them, and understood their suffering.
He was imprisoned unjustly six times and was tortured beyond human imagination. He survived the war period during Japan occupation of Korea and the Korean War. He was also persecuted and cursed more than anyone in history, because they misunderstood him and was jealous of his works. Many would have gave up if they experienced these, but he did not and continue on pursuing the dream of peace.
Global Mission To Save The World
He established numerous organization to help to bring a world of peace, some popular ones are the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, Universal Peace Federation and Women's Federation for World Peace and Unification. To bring about a world of peace, we must touch every part of life and bring harmony to it. Through arts, culture, ocean, sports, solution to hunger, education, environment, music, collapse of communism and many more.
Here is a video I would like to show you about his autobiography to further explain his life:

The #1 Personal Finance Book of All Times
Title: Rich Dad Poor Dad
Author: Robert T. Kiyosaki
Genre: Finance
Pages: 178
I heard of this book before, but i never got the chance to really read it until my friend bought it. Once he finish reading it , I quickly borrow it from him.
My Financial Knowledge Sucks, How About You
I find the title interesting and wonder what will the book reveal. I was blown by the first few chapters right away, it really challenged many traditional ideas and concept about money, job and income. Mr Kiyosaki keep emphasizing then to be rich, you have to first invest in financial education. To invest and gain financial knowledge to our minds for that is the greatest asset.
I feel very sad that I did not receive any financial knowledge in school and from my parents. I was taught by the traditional way to do well in school, get a scholarship, get in university and get a good job. That is the way most people will go to feel secure and stable but then when you get married, buy a house, owe the bank, need to pay bills, taxes, groceries, etc. Then your beloved children are born, you need to feed them as well. Do you think a paycheck a month will help you fulfill your dreams and all your family needs?
Or would you like to gain financial freedom and have the time to do what you want, spend time with your family, travel the world and the like. I know this sounds controversial, but it can really be achieved if you have the will. He introduced many more concepts and ways too that really inspired me to think differently about money and many things.
WEEK #2 PREVIEW: I have decided to read an autobiography, stay tuned.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, friends and families. I have decided to take up this challenge of reading a book a week. I call it「Max's 1Week1Book Challenge」. I have first heard of this kind of thing in a blog I stumbled upon if I remember, this guy successfully done it he read 52 books in a year. I felt it was amazing and interesting and would like to try it. Now, I finally decided the start the ball rolling.
Out of Everything Why Are You Doing This
You can call me a bookworm, nerd or whatever you want but I believe that books have great knowledge and power. It can challenge your way of thinking, it can give you inspiration, it can teaches you new skills, it is very very interesting. It is better than TV shows and movies.
"You want weapons? We're in a [bookstore]! Books! The bests weapons in the world!"
It makes me feel awesome. Don't you feel great if you can accomplish something like this? A book a week. You can have some bragging rights. Plus it helps me the build my habit of completion. That is why I set the time limit of 1 week 1 book. I need to kill that procrastination of mine.
Why One Week One Book
Why not just read more books? Why one book in one week? Let me ask you a question instead. We are all once students right? We all have experienced preparing for exams. We know the date of the exam. Some people prepare for it gradually, studying everyday. Some people just prepare at the last minute. But I bet most of us did it last minute, because I am one of them too. And when it comes to last minute, our energy suddenly rises, what seems to be days where we find no interest in digging into our books became opposite and we are motivated to study -- because exams are just around the corner.
It is because we had a deadline or we knew the date. Same thing applies here. Setting a goal like this will make me take it seriously. The week is almost coming to an end! I need to read faster! You get it? We need to set BIG goals in our life, that even we are afraid of it. And when we're afraid, will think of that goal more and definitely try to accomplish it.
I Dare You To Join Me
I hereby invite this opportunity to join me in this challenge and change your life. Would you like to? Leave a comment here. Normally I read story books, but for this challenge I would focus more on books like self-help, motivation, skill-acquiring, etc. I believe that's where I can grow myself the most.
Stay tuned for my journey on this challenge, subscribe if you would like. I will be posting my progress and the reviews of the books I read. See you Soon! :)
